In 1818, Mary Shelley’s iconic Frankenstein was published under “anonymous,” because women weren’t taken seriously as writers. Many female authors of that century wrote under male nom de plumes for their work to be read critically and without bias or prejudice. In the 21st century, internet trolls seek the straight-up female author oppression of the 19th century, with its lack of meritocracy. In the 2020s, it’s going back two hundred years that women authors with talent must write under male pen names and male personas or do not indie publish at all, especially on Amazon and Goodreads. Internet trolls are permitted to proliferate in book reviews on those two Amazon-owned platforms. Is that what you desire for society?

The trolls post fake reviews to harass authors or disrupt sales, targeting the authors for personal reasons and not book content. Female authors are 3 times more likely to be targeted by them than male authors. Amazon and Goodreads have significant issues with internet trolls, leading to fake reviews, coordinated “review bombing,” especially one-star attacks on authors for personal reasons or ideology, harassment, and bot accounts, which harm authors and create a toxic environment. Authors often face attacks unrelated to the book’s content, including threats and unfounded criticism, leading many to withdraw their books or avoid the platforms.

The constant inclination for normal people is a desire for the issue to be something in the book content or anything at all that would make anywhere near logical sense, rather than it being a group of usually adult males who cannot get girlfriends or develop any social life and use their endless lonely hours to cause harm to strangers through lying and insults, and trying to deny women authors their incomes. That is by far too irrational, too illogical, and too childishly emotional for most intelligent people to get their heads around, including this author. It has taken five years of abuse for the author to finally accept that such emotional dysregulation childishness is actually the reason. It is still difficult to accept.

Meritocracy is a social system where individuals are rewarded and advance based purely on their talent, ability, and effort (their “merit”), rather than ascribed characteristics like inherited wealth, social class, background, race, or gender, theoretically creating upward social mobility through talent and hard work.

The American Dream is fundamentally rooted in the concept of meritocracy—the belief that success, wealth, and upward mobility are earned through individual talent, hard work, and skill. The female-targeting trolls are 100% against meritocracy, and therefore against a cornerstone of American principles … and desiring to put the United States back over 200 years.

Amazon and Goodreads put the burden on customers to be knowledgeable of the trolls and to distinguish between authentic reviews and falsities meant as attacks. Add it to all the other shitting-on-the-suppliers-and-customers behavior Amazon does, right? The logical fix to this problem, which is within regular people’s grasp, is to educate Amazon and Goodreads customers. That is what this article is for.

Get this: Trolls are known for making many fake profiles. This includes, but is not limited to, inventing a female name in fake profiles to attack the books repeatedly and try to avoid being nailed as haters on the platforms, which would require their bullshit to be pulled off the platform. Holy crap, right?

Alas, that is merely what the customers can see, and not the abuses the black-souled trolls message women authors through social media. Indie authors must promote their work, and it’s typically on social media. What happens? Out of the blue, do not know them from Adam, instant messaging of fifty-year-old women, with such one and two-word messages as “slut lol,” and “dogshit.” What the hell? One wonders what such childish, stupid insults can gain for the obviously socially dysfunctional assholes. With research, it was discovered that the purpose is to harass talented female writers, of all ages and generations, into giving up on writing. For real, as utterly bat shit nuts, malignant, and “get a life, loser!” as that is. Apparently, with weaker, and usually younger, women, the tactic has actually worked. Come on, girls, get it together! Be like Phebe in this story, in which the survival fight is there, and either do it or die. You never know what you are made of until tested!

Charlotte Brontë used the male pen name Currer Bell to publish her novels, including her most famous work, Jane Eyre (1847). She adopted this pseudonym to avoid the prejudice against female authors during the Victorian era, allowing her work to be judged without gender bias. This quote from her is about her and her sisters using male nom de plumes:

“Averse to personal publicity, we veiled our own names under those of Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell; the ambiguous choice being dictated by a sort of conscientious scruple at assuming Christian names positively masculine, while we did not like to declare ourselves women, because—without at that time suspecting that our mode of writing and thinking was not what is called ‘feminine’—we had a vague impression that authoresses are liable to be looked on with prejudice; we had noticed how critics sometimes use for their chastisement the weapon of personality, and for their reward, a flattery, which is not true praise.”

For men reading this about the similar current 21st-century matter, how would you like your mother, wife, sister, or daughter who has writing talent and publishes on Amazon to then receive her sales diminished through unfettered harassment, insults, be lied about, and their work be lied about, and be abused as the trolls are doing, solely because she is female? The greater her talent, the more she is going to be targeted.

Female authors, in general, are three times more likely to be targeted in reviews by falsifying trolls than male authors. This is because the trolls are typically ‘incels,’ or “involuntary celibates.” Translated, they are the ultimate biggest male, frankly losers in society, and refuse to lift a finger to improve themselves. They feel they are too superior to compete against the normal male of the species, and they severely blame and hate the female of the species for all of their emotional and psychological problems. Can you say “entitlement”? The incels have produced murderers, including mass shooters; they are that blaringly fucked up in the head, for which they blame total strangers of all ages and walks of life. On top of their hyper-aggression, they turn out to have paper-thin skin sensitivity. That’s truly nauseating, isn’t it?

Look at the shocking list of “incel-related violence” on Wikipedia. People who wish to retain their freedom to own firearms, especially AR-15s, also known as assault rifles, would be wise to join in curbing the incels, or at least educating the public on them, since they are so notoriously connected to mass shootings. Do not rely on the media to help you with this matter whatsoever, as they have shown they are only interested in this ilk when there has recently been violence.

Females do not like incels due to their horrible personalities, period. Normal males do not like them either. It’s universal. The extremely obvious personality disorders many immediately display, such as antisocial PD and narcissistic PD (NPD), set off people’s alarms and repel people from them. PDs require professional help, and not something laypeople of psychology can do anything about.

One of the worst of them to attack this author’s Book One is a full-blown psycho named Rodney Cook, who wrote over 500 words of lies and abuse. He insulted the author, starting from his title onward, and used the pronoun “she” abundantly.

Watch for insults of the author, as that is what the incel trolls do.

He created fake, inflammatory socio-politics that did not fit the context of even the “cops” mentioning blurb, never mind the AR-15-laden story. Nonetheless, he was permitted to create a mindless feeding frenzy of the naïve and easily manipulated, who ignored all the hundreds of five-star reviews, including those by military veterans. This horrorfest of an NPD believed himself so entitled as to even change the age of the GenX author by more than 10 years, into a “Millennial”. At no time in his propaganda “review” did he share anything about himself, which is another of the red flags to identify the fake reviews.

Trolls do not share anything about themselves in their fake reviews that would give credibility to their extreme and off-the-rails statements that are so emotional that one would wonder if the book killed Grandpa.

He made PhD candidate Phebe into a moron through scene-lying, as he attempted to do to the author as well.

This humorless, most stupid adult male in the history of the world claimed the author invented military dark, or gallows, humor. Wow! How many centuries old would that make the author?

Upon investigating the psycho, he turned out to be in his 60s and an ex-con who spent nearly 30 years in a Georgia state prison for first-degree murder. That is why he could not share anything about himself.

A murderer ex-con … yeah, totally what the normal people, middle class, are looking for in book reviews!

On Amazon, his “review” received over 100 “Report” clicks from customers. Amazon, of course, did nothing.

The psycho troll went to every platform featuring Book One at that time to post his fake “review” for the very obvious purpose of disrupting sales.

So, women are not even allowed to make a living by these 19th-century, wuss-bag, manipulative, stupidest adult males in the history of the world?

In the 19th century, considering the psycho’s background, he would have been a poor dirt farmer and quickly publicly hanged for his crime.

Understand, trolls do not have any social lives because no one likes them, so this is the bullshit they do with their time.

They appear to be actively seeking a really bad afterlife as plain old just bad people.

The no-account troll believed himself to be intrinsically superior to a woman author who is a member of Mensa, clever as hell, and a holder of a master’s degree earned in England, in a different dialect of English.

Is that the backwards, non-meritocratic world you want to be in, as your ancestors suffered?

The trash gets to rise to the top, while the cream of the crop is kept down by them?

Where are these males’ books for people to look at?

The author had to launch the identical story under a different title and pen name just to get away from this soul-be-damned monster and the other trolls he called in. They still hit the newer title, though. More about that here.

So, the author ran a secret experiment and published an identical story with a male pen name and persona, with no connection to fans, social media, or this website, to check the difference of this one variable. Oh, boy, was there ever a difference! The trolls left it alone.

When male military veterans go after the trolls in reviews, the cowards run.

The wuss, no-account bullies try to stay in their comfort zones, not to be confronted or challenged by normal people. They will not email authors directly, join the Facebook fan groups, or go to the authors’ websites. It is strictly review boards and any promotion on social media.

They have stated they do not want to read dialogue in non-picture fiction books. Do they also watch movies on mute and without captions?

The trolls want all the protections and privileges afforded to them by the 21st-century tolerance, equality, and fairness mentality, while simultaneously not allowing women to have any.

If women have to be 19th century, then this trash needs to be as well. For starters, under 19th-century rules, women of a higher class, the males of lower classes were not allowed to even look at those women wrong. The men of the higher classes routinely destroyed lower-class males for the slightest too-big-for-their-britches, above their station behavior. The trolls really need to learn some history, but they have proven too stupid for that.

These extremely un-American trolls are 100% against people who earn their hash marks—no meritocracy permitted for the female of the species. What is even more fucked up: some incel trolls are black guys. They definitely do not want the 19th century to return on them, even more than the white trash, yet these individuals would do it to women old enough to be their mothers. So insanely fucked up!

Counter them in reviews. Give them what they earn. Let them know you want a meritocracy society. If you have the opportunity, as a customer, complain to Amazon and Goodreads about the troll liars they are allowing to proliferate and how this makes reviews untrustworthy.
