The Story Behind Two Titles That Are Identical Books

The original series title and pen name published were Extinction Level Event by K.J. Jones. When still starting out as a new Amazon indie author, someone attacked Book One in the reviews.

In 2021, people among the very extreme right launched a campaign against politically centered, socially moderate indie authors on Amazon, a vulnerable, easily accessible group to harm. These extremists used a template in which they would write in reviews what appeared to be spoiler scenes, except the scenes were fake and awful.

Amazon treats their indie authors like they are the aristocrats dealing with malcontent feudal peasants, so they would not help the authors whatsoever against these attacks. This was despite Amazon was losing money from the attacks as well, so bad business.

Some of the very extreme right attackers went further than lying and politicized the novels with highly inflammatory buzzword proclamations. By doing so, they created the siren’s call for the two social-political extremes to attack the books. They forced the books into the political turmoil of the United States. There was no way out of it for the authors and fans. It was chum in shark infested waters.

The person who targeted Extinction Level Event (ELE) Book One was an ex-con. He spent nearly thirty years in prison, which usually indicates a first-degree murder conviction. He was also a Klansman from Cummings, Georgia, an area notorious for them in the South. Oh, an ex-con Klansman is so who regular people want to read a review from, right? Top of the list of credible reviewers! Except, of course, he hid who he actually was. Research and the police told his identity to the author.

Here’s him on GoodReads:

What the fuck??? Seriously, what in the fuck???

This guy felt entitled to even change the author’s generation from GenX to “Millennial.” It was the inflammatory buzzword at the time.

First, that says he didn’t even notice the “zoms” were not dead, a major point of the story. This reveals his reading comprehension level, wouldn’t you say?

Second, the author was like, “Virtue? There’s no promoting virginity in this?” Apparently, all human beings absolutely must be up to date on the most current political terms of the two-party tribal warfare. Otherwise, they must crawl under a rock. No choice allowed. Nice “freedom” we got, aye? The author finally Googled the entire term “virtue signaling.” Yup, a cutting edge political tribal war term. It has absolutely nothing to do with the traditional meaning of virtue. Could they send out memos to those raised Catholic to know they are changing the meanings of words the Church has used forever, please?

Alas, Catholic is one of the groups the KKK has detested for over 100 years. They have previously harassed, terrorized, and murdered them. This hatred was so pronounced that in south Louisiana, a Catholic majority area, their version of the Klan was the White League, which did not target Catholics. In fact, the Klan’s attacks on white ethnics are why the Klan is so infamous. Back in Jim Crow, regular white Southerners were attacking black people. The outcomes were horrific. The pictures of these events would turn even strong stomachs. Targeting black people was not exclusive to the Klan, but the attacks on white people became the domain of this American terrorist organization. Thank all that is good that RICO came along in 1970. This law curtailed the Klan’s activity by a lot.

The author is a white ethnic originally from the North. She has lived in the South for about 32 years. This period began when it was changing from the Old South to the New South. She has, unfortunately, a lot of firsthand run-ins with the Klan. Indeed, this series was written in a Floridian house that was merely twenty minutes from a locally known Klan territory. They mostly just exploit their freedom of speech to the maximum to harass people nowadays. There are no laws against this tactic.

The author wanted to escape the political tribal warfare that the ex-con created on her Book One. She published away from Amazon. This decision broke the KU contract about digital books exclusivity. She did so out of a need for survival! Amazon found out and banned ELE from KU for 12 months, which turned into years. The author launched the same series on Amazon. It was under the title Zombie and the pen name Kat-Jo Jones. This series could be KU.

Who cares about the pen name change, since ‘Jones’ is not actually her last name. The K.J. or Kat-Jo refers to her real first and middle names. One does not publish under her real name on the internet because of creeps.

Another big corporation that mistreats people, Facebook, will not allow for any mention of “Kat-Jo Jones” on the K.J. Jones profile pages. They have to be strictly “K.J. Jones” or Facebook threatens to suspend, possibly permanently delete, the pages.

Freedom of speech is just amazing nowadays, isn’t it?

A buddy of the ex-con first attacker tried to attack Zombie using the same bullshit lies. The nightmare was starting up again in Amazon reviews, now on Zombie.

If the author reads or hears the word “stereotype” ever again, the burning people alive theme will resume. This time with control-freak, stupid assholes as the charcoal victims.

Venting not over…

Absolutely done with dictatorships on the creative arts. These bullying control-freak asshats won’t allow any freedom of speech whatsoever! No visions or life experiences allowed but their own. So, what then? There will only be novels that are extreme right or extreme left, only two lenses allowed, forced by the bullying of authors? Totally done with that bullshit!

Venting over.

The author eventually figured out the only way to be rid of this nightmare was to mock the fuck outta ‘em! If you haven’t read the prologue that does this, click here for it.

Sales went through the roof!

That was until the boycott of Amazon began. Most indie authors were financially harmed by this—they talk with each other in their own groups such as on Reddit. The boycott of Amazon only harmed the little guys. Le Sigh. Per usual, right? Let’s stop the boycott that is ineffectual in its goals, and allow indie authors to make a living again! (Note, trying to hurt a huge corporation and rich dudes requires thinking out of box to be effectual.)

So, that’s what happened and why there are two series that are identical, available on Amazon.

Thank you for this explanation. I recently finished the Extinction Level (title) of the series and enjoyed it very much. I finished book 7 3 days ago and I still have the characters running through my brain. I need to know what happens to them. I saw the Zombie title and almost purchased that until I read the description. I hope your health issues improve.
