From an ‘MTV Generation’ GenXer indie author: We have a troll infestation! We need an exterminator.

We indie authors need you to post reviews of our books to counter trolls and the repercussive damage they cause to star rating-dependent algorithms. They seek what is called “Censorship by Troll,” trying to control what YOU read and who gets to write. I know—that’s so dang creepy, isn’t it?

This requires our beloved, good-faith readers to recognize what is happening and push against dark side trolls. Algorithms dominate life online, including placements of book promotional ads and platform recommendation listings. Therefore, the indie literary world requires people under the bell curve of normalcy to counter trolls with high-star ratings and thereby protect the algorithms from outlier manipulation.

For real. This is the surreal bullshit that is happening.

Amazon and Goodreads (which Amazon owns) allow trolls to proliferate unchecked in book reviews. Amazon employees routinely ignore reports from indie authors and customers about fake reviews—reviews that include false claims about book content and defamation about authors.

I can firsthand attest to this, as can more than 100 customers who read my books, as evidenced by our report on one of the most flagrant abusive troll reviews in 2021. You can read about that doozy at “The Story Behind Two Titles That Are Identical Books.”

Amazon places the burden on customers to differentiate real reviews from bogus ones. But if the customers don’t know these trolls exist, how are they supposed to tell the difference?

Note on my language: when I use the words ‘haters’ and ‘hate group,’ by that I mean extremists who seek out that which they hate in order to cause trouble, as much harm to total strangers as they can, and spread their misery among as many people as possible.

These pains in the asses can suck the joy out of a room full of puppies!

What I do not mean is people who may say some fuzzy gray area douchebagy things, but for the most part, steer clear of that which they hate. Trying to avoid whatever or whoever triggers negative feelings is within the normal bell curve of human behavior. Seeking out what one hates, becoming obsessed with it, and creating a narrative identity dependent on it is not normal.

Who are the Trolls?

The most prevalent trolls nowadays in the 2020s are incels, a particularly revolting, young, violent hate group that has appeared throughout English-speaking countries.

You’ve probably heard the word before, but if you haven’t learned about them, here’s the education:

Incel refers to individuals who identify with the online subculture of “involuntary celibates”—yes, that means guys who cannot get laid and are most likely adult virgins. They are trolls who engage in harassment and trolling behavior, primarily directed at women and at those men they deem as “sexually successful.” This behavior is driven by deep-seated misogyny and rage that permeates the incel community, which see themselves as “victims” of a society that supposedly “denies” them sex and relationships.

Yes, we have signs denying them this, and we hang those signs on sex workers as well. (Sarcasm.)

Incels are determined to silence women in public spaces, not unlike some extremist fundamentalist religious ideologies elsewhere in the world with whom we are sadly familiar.

Incels:

• Post fake, abusive, or inappropriately negative reviews based on personal reasons and not book content to harass women authors and sabotage sales.
• Target authors (or male characters) they label “sexually successful men,” whom they call “Chads.” This category includes Marines and special operations military—more on that on the blog.
• Actively pursue what’s known as the “Silencing Effect,” where the intensity and cruelty of harassment pushes authors to self-censor, avoid topics, or leave the profession altogether—called “Censorship by Troll.”
• Are linked to violence so severe that U.S. and U.K. law enforcement and counterterrorism agencies classify the incel community as an emerging domestic terrorist threat, due to its online recruitment and radicalization, which is similar in methodology to that used by ISIS.

Demographics and Mindset

Incels are hetero males typically of the younger half of Gen Y (aka media manufactured “Millennials”), and the whole of years born in Gen Z (see graph below). They are from middle-class, white-collar suburbia with all the advantages, perks, privileges, protections, luxuries, and comforts this affords. Incels have a hyper-entitlement perception, while inventing the premise that they are the all-time victims on planet Earth of an unfair society and civilization. Yes, you read all of that correctly, as much of an eyerolling, colossal sigh-provoking bunch of spoiled brat bullshit as that is.

Extant Generations.

• Generation X, vernacular “GenX” (1965–1980): Broken into “older” and “younger” by sociocultural items, with the technical midpoint being 1972–1973.
• Generation Y, vernacular “Millennials” (1981–1996): Also broken into older and younger for the same reason, with the technical midpoint being 1988–1989.
o Younger GenX and older GenY typically go together, with more sharing of sociocultural items, than either has with the other half of their arbitrarily invented generations.
• Generation Z, vernacular “GenZ” (1997–2012)

Incels are, hands down, the pinnacle of snowflakes. Try not to get sick!

They cannot cope with a culture built on individualism, meritocracy, and competition—cornerstone values of the United States since its founding, at least in highly cherished theory. (No offense to other countries that developed these ideals later on.) By their own identification, incels place themselves at the bottom of the pecking order, then adamantly refuse to do anything to change their circumstances.

Instead, they blame everyone else through a trite fake victim melodrama common to hate group antagonists.

Incels have invented myths rooted in archaic disproven beliefs to absolve themselves of all accountability.

Brace yourself, because here comes going down the rabbit hole.

In the incel subculture, “Chads,” or “high-status men,” are seen as the top of a supposed social and sexual hierarchy. This belief is rooted in “biological determinism,” where attraction and success are viewed as fixed outcomes of genetics.

Oh, it’s lovely to be back in the 19th century, with all the big dresses, arsenic wallpaper, lead children’s toys, and cities steeped in smog. There is a reason I’m snarking that way—biological determinism is archaic as hell. It was used by the ruling class to subjugate our ancestors, the 80% voiceless poor, during the medieval and the Industrial Revolution.

According to incel ideology—or the ideology of those who evidently succumb to the highly contagious Stupid virus—“Chads” are defined by physical traits such as height, strong facial features, and an athletic build, as well as confidence, social skills, and often wealth or career success. Incels commonly cite their invented “80/20 rule”—not the real one mentioned above. They claim that a small group of men (20%) receives most female attention (80%). They use the term “mogging” to describe how “Chads” supposedly outclass lower-status men simply by their mere presence.

Mogging is Gen Z slang popular on TikTok and similar platforms. It refers to outshining or dominating others—usually in physical appearance, fitness, or overall attractiveness—making those nearby seem inferior by comparison.

Sometimes people drop into that space the pop culture meanings and applications of “alpha male,” “beta male,” and “narcissism”—referring to classic narcissism vs. a personality disorder. However, these terms have grown pathological in their usage. Everyone is a bit narcissistic, varying at different times and depending on what’s going on in their lives. But not everyone has a personality disorder, preventing them from ceasing in such behavior. 

It’s suspicious that they use the exact same historically-proven population percentage breakdown as the ruling class vs. the non-ruling class. If you know of any third-party, credible source for the incels' 80/20 rule, please tell me in the comments section. As of now, it looks like the real 80/20 was stolen or appropriated.

Alas. The same thing incels are drama queen-claiming as their victimization definitely could be said for women, first and foremost, and over a vastly longer period of time, with real-world damage and consequences. All women disappear to men when a “10” woman walks into the room, isn’t that so? Women have been valued by men and thus society based on appearance and fitting some sociocultural cookie-cutter, going back hundreds, if not thousands, of years, isn’t that so? There is far stronger empirical evidence for appearance-based hierarchy affecting females than males, especially in the heterosexual world, and the consequences can be quite dire even in our time and place—things like eating disorders and dangerous cosmetic procedures.

Within the incel worldview, the adult male of the species is divided into three tiers:
• Chads at the top,
• “Normies” or “betas,” average-looking men who have stable but “unremarkable” sexual lives and are supposedly always at risk of losing partners to a Chad,
• And incels at the bottom, who see themselves as permanently excluded from the so-called “sexual marketplace.”

Now, it’s even a “marketplace.” Wow, are we missing something?

The man most normal human beings often cite for disproving the incel propaganda is actor Danny DeVito. He’s very short, and his face isn’t winning any beauty pageants. Yet he’s been married to Rhea Perlman—a woman—and has a family with her.

But on Planet Batshit Crazy Fake Victims, if a “Chad” showed up—say Brad Pitt—Rhea would supposedly be instinctually compelled to ‘jump on that dick’ opportunity. Seriously. That is what these utter morons fervently believe—and too often to the point of violence against innocent victims.

Incels, who have no credentials whatsoever to be experts or even well-read, decree that the female of the species is instinctually programmed to be hypergamous—biologically driven to seek higher-status men or to “marry up.” This idea evidently comes from incels watching the reality TV franchise Real Housewives too much.

Such balderdash—pulled straight from the virginal backsides by some truly astounding ass-talkers—reinforces their “black pill” myth of biological determinism: the idea that self-improvement cannot overcome genetic limits.

So, psychologists, social workers, self-esteem promoters, etc., can all pack up and go home, because Homo sapiens can’t change anything. Our whole claim to fame as a species—the big brain—is gone in the blink of an ignorant eye.

Such a belief conveniently allows incels to proclaim themselves the ultimate victims to ever exist, thereby absolving themselves of responsibility or accountability.

They present the singular most shallow treatment of humankind there is nowadays, which is sourced from a screen—whether the screen of cell phones, laptops, TVs, or cinema—because, as we all know, entertainment and talking heads are such accurate windows to the world! (More sarcasm.)

The fancier wordage goes like this: the black pill is a fatalistic and nihilistic philosophy centered on the belief that a man’s success in dating and society is entirely determined by genetics. If you were born without certain physical traits—height, facial bone structure, whatever—it’s “over,” and no amount of effort can change your status.

In the real world, “biological determinism” is a vicious idea that has caused unimaginable suffering and body counts well into the millions. Once actual scientific methodology entered the picture, biological determinism became an idea that science has repeatedly disproved.

What is scientifically supported is that humans have agency—free will. We are a nurture-over-nature species, or we wouldn’t be capable of something as extremely opposing toward animal instinct as suicide is. What incels are decreeing instead is that we’re a nature-over-nurture species, biologically predestined to behave in fixed, inescapable ways.

Historically, groups placed on the wrong side of biological determinism do not rush to announce their own inherent inferiority and then go out and commit violence, causing more negative attention on them. Such things have ended in a mass culling of said inferiors, forcible sterilization, imprisonment, or institutionalization. The fact that incels do exactly this announcement and provocation tells us how they see themselves: as little princelings of the medieval Habsburg royal dynasty—entitled, ugly, inadequate, feeble-minded, revolting, yet above everyone else and owed adoration.

Needless to say, the incel mentality frustrates normal men. Incels adamantly refuse to fix their problems or listen to “beta” men who try to help them.

It is most likely because many of the incels display unfettered severe personality disorders (PD). The killers among them certainly proved that point, which raises the uncomfortable question: how widespread are PDs among the younger generations? And what has caused it?

The incel perpetrators of murders often showed narcissistic personality disorders (NPD) with psychopathy. Expecting admiration without achievement is a defining NPD trait.

Another thing the public noticed when those evil murderers were identified: they weren’t physically ugly. In fact, they were good-looking. So, that often-repeated statement from incels as their prevailing excuse for their problems is another falsity. It is really about their expectation to be admired without effort, talent, hard work, or anything at all. And they condemn people who have or do any of those things—such as hard work, talent, etc.—and who rise in an individualistic meritocracy society.

We’re starting to get a clearer picture of them, huh? Meritocracy is what they perceive as “victimizing” them, because they are lazy, entitled, and demanding everything they desire be handed to them on a silver platter. We, society, are big meanies for not giving adult spoiled brats whatever they want.

Ya know, the height thing, Napoleon Bonaparte was said to be short. He certainly did not lack self-esteem!

From the research, it appears incels demand that English-speaking societies make women enslaved to them, and “Chads” are to take position at the bottom of the hierarchy, while the incels take theirs at the top.

Honestly, just writing that paragraph is hurting my brain.

Women.

Men murdering women blows the doors off any statistics of women murdering men. But while whining about poor baby blue “victimization,” the incels approve of the murders of women and girls. They even openly promote it on the internet, while our law enforcement does nothing.

Hey, in the US, we got a law that helps with this organization-wide hate that is connected to criminality: RICO!

Incels insist that women are “inherently inferior to men”—because apparently that archaic babble needed another reboot. They do this in something more akin to Jim Crow “inferiority-superiority” evil, with “superiority” circular thinking: “I kill you if you rise above the level of white trash men, and therefore you are inferior because I can kill you without going to prison.”

For context, I’m a XX chromosome woman who belongs to Mensa, with an IQ that tested at 172 … at least before a cervical spinal and head injury that causes memory and concentration issues.

Normally, I don’t play the “What’s your IQ?” game. But when males from the intelligence underworld start the “I’m superior to you because I whiz standing up” routine—especially after they’ve insulted my intelligence and messed with my income—then yes, I will damn well mention it. I’ll even put it in my author bio.

Regular people shouldn’t feel anything about my doing that. It’s not aimed at you. Laying down the superiority is aimed at the hostile combatant enemy who voluntarily made themselves into my inferiors.

There’s another layer to that intelligence issue for me. I come from white ethnic groups that WASPs—or old-stock whites—historically labeled as inherently inferior and intellectually deficient. So, yes, sometimes I enjoy gloating with, “Here we are. Look at the IQ, asshats.”

Natural Selection & the Gene Pool.

Since incels are so fond of dragging us back to the biological determinism era, the good news is that we don’t need a eugenics project ala the past to remove them from the gene pool.

They’ve already done that themselves to a high success rate.

If they actually understood any biology, natural selection would not be working in their favor.

Considering their economic class background, the sociocultural environment can no longer be blamed for their ignorance. They are not products of their ignorant environment, because their environment is not that ignorant.

History.

Their version of history is equally as pretend as their science. They cherry-pick whatever fragments from the past that support their agenda and ignore anything that would demote them. They want the freedoms, protections, and enlightenment of the 21st century that allow them to live without rigid class, ancestry, economic, or racial hierarchies—but they simultaneously demand that those freedoms, protections, and enlightenment not apply to women, or, evidently, to the men they label “Chads.”

When reality refuses to cooperate, incels use their drivel to justify truly heinous violence against women and society. Look up the murder of Bianca Devins as a stomach-turning example. Go to Wikipedia and search the word “incels” to see an alarming list of killers. You can also learn about these through numerous true crime channels on YouTube.

The phrase “demon-spawn violence” doesn’t feel like an exaggeration.

Incels sit in a long, ugly tradition, alongside Heinrich Kramer, the German Catholic inquisitor who authored Malleus Maleficarum (“The Hammer of Witches”), the infamous 1486 witch-hunting manual. Kramer was a known misogynist deviant who creeped-out his ecclesiastical peers with his perverse obsession with sex and women’s sexuality that became the foundation for most of the myths about supernatural witchcraft. In that worldview, women are weak-willed, ruled by nature and sex, and easily corrupted by the Devil.

Alas, at that time, it was widely believed that women were more sexual than men—thinking about sex more, wanting it more, etc.—a claim that has since been thoroughly debunked. This was also an era that believed the Earth was flat, that the sun revolved around it, and that disease came from bad smells in the air—just a few highlights of the era’s intellectual prowess.

The Literary World of Women Authors.

Back in 1818, Mary Shelley’s iconic Frankenstein was published under the alias of “Anonymous,” because women authors weren’t taken seriously. The Brontë sisters, among others, used male pen names for the same reason.
It’s now the 2020s, and things are quickly shuttling back two hundred years, thanks to platforms and media disinterest.

I, for one, have removed anything that signals I am a woman to protect my work and be allowed my intelligence, humor, life experience, knowledge, and education. That is how bad things have grown.

Having crossed the over-the-hill fifty years old line, I’ve received direct messages from GenZ males whose entire contribution to civilization consists of saying to me these things: “slut lol” or “dogshit.” For real. Imagine saying that to your friend’s mom? The GenZ incels underline that they lack a single micron of respect for their elders or anything valued in society and civilization, full stop.

I’m hoping I’ll be dead before they come to any real power.

For me, I don’t actually care about the insults themselves. What I’m alarmed by is the pattern.

Too many women are not built like me. My father used to say I had a pair of “brass ones,” an old-school reference for chutzpah. I additionally inherited the classic Irish temper, and there’s the hard-to-put-down Highland Scots in the bloodline, too.

In short: Do not mess with Celtic women. Boudica wasn’t a rarity.

My great-grandmother was a suffragette.

When incels read the opening chapter of my Book One, they get their tidy-whitey briefs that Mom washes in a twist and launch into their drama queen proclamations of lies. Often, they melodramatically, over the top, lie about the presence of dialogue. They do not want to read dialogue in a fiction novel. Do they also watch movies on mute without closed captions?

How far does the idiocy go? Enquiring minds want to know.

If you recall, the opening scene involves Peter Sullivan talking on his cell phone with a former Navy SEAL. There is no description of either man’s appearance, apart from Peter limping, and nothing about their sex lives.
But in the incel worldview, both characters automatically qualify as “Chads” because they are special operations military. Becoming a U.S. Army Ranger or U.S. Navy SEAL requires confidence, discipline, success, and obvious physical fitness.

To the incel mind, that’s enough to trigger their rage and condemnation. Unfortunately, they understand that algorithms will not permit outright hate language, so they must be creative. What they typically do for my work is take whatever is most often applauded in the five-star reviews and write the emphatic exact opposite in a one-star. This takes very limited cerebral thinking or creativity, and that’s their wheelhouse.

We also need to remember that incels’ worldview centers entirely on themselves; everyone else is secondary. That’s quite common in several personality disorders, or just from being raised as spoiled brats entitled to all they desire, and without facing any true consequences for their bad behaviors.

What happens when the generation that received ‘participation awards‘ doesn’t get what they want? Throw a fit, and your parent or teacher gives you what you desire. Therefore, when puberty strikes, and they want girls, in their minds, the girls should be the same way—giving them their way upon them throwing a fit and acting ugly. When that doesn’t happen, because girls are acting like they are human beings, the spoiled rotten boys go on a rampage in which they view themselves as “victims.” Getting the psychology behind all of this?

The start of this kind of male may have been signaled by the Columbine School Shooting.

Like all predators, incels look for vulnerable targets, and indie authors are especially vulnerable due to the nature of independent publishing and how troubled Amazon is. This remains true even if we, as individuals, do not have personalities that are prone to withdrawing or going silent.

I, for one, despise bullies, and I have a track record of standing up to them to protect others.
